Heidi Bishop has spent the last 39 years working with children with dyslexia, first at the Landmark  School on the North Shore of Boston teaching high school for 4 years, Trident Academy in  Charleston, SC, teaching 4th grade for 1 year, Camperdown Academy in Greenville, SC, in teaching  and administrative positions for 26 years, and the last 8 years at Lakes and Bridges Charter School  in Easley, SC, first as the Project Director getting the school up and running and then the last 7  years as principal.

She was trained in the Orton-Gillingham Approach in 1991-1992, received her Fellow/OGA (Orton Gillingham Academy) in 2001 at which point she took over the OG Teacher Training Program at  Camperdown Academy. In 2017, she received her Accredited Training Fellow from the OGA and  oversees the Teacher Training Program at Lakes and Bridges Charter School in addition to her  administrative duties.

In addition to being trained at the Associate, Certified, and Fellow Levels, she is also trained in  SPIRE and LETRS. She has also participated in extensive training through Keys to Literacy and also  Diana Hanbury King and William Van Cleave (prior to their deaths).

Heidi has trained teachers for different schools and school districts in SC, NC, GA, and CA. She  presented at Research to Practice for several summers, has presented at the OGA National  Conferences, and IDA Regional Conferences. She was the Past President for the IDA-SC Branch  and oversaw local, state, and regional conferences and workshops during her time with IDA-SC.  She was appointed to the SC Dyslexia Task Force (Act 103) in 2012 and served on the Read to  Succeed (Act 284) Advisory Committee in 2015. She most recently served on the Information and  Outreach Committee of the OGA Board before the committee was disbanded in 2024.
