Nurturing Writers: Unpacking Evidence-Based Standards, Assessment, and Instruction in K-5 Writing
Come gather with others to learn about evidence-based writing instruction. Participants will dig into the South Carolina ELA Standards for writing, examine the ways in which the standards are assessed, and consider the instructional implications for K-5 educators.
Session goals:
-Reflect on writing instruction in your classroom/school
-Deepen understanding of the SC ELA Standards and their alignment to what research says about effective writing instruction
-Consider the knowledge & skills needed for students to successfully respond to text dependent writing
-Review an instructional resource for TDW preparation
